A follow up question is whether there is a market for second hand 12 inch Powerbook?

I think its justified to buy a new MacBook for Leopard. ;)

There is always a market... the question is what would the sales price be. :P
Not sure actually. I got it for R11k two years ago. It is a bit dented so maybe R6k to R8k?
My wife thinks I should get the new Macbook. I'm not going to argue too much. Will pick it up tomorrow.
what sort of state is it in though seeing as you said it would cost R8k to repair? i.e. what is wrong with it?

Hey Justin, it seems the damage isn't as bad as I thought. It seems the hard drive and possibly Superdrive must be replaced. Prob R4k or so. I'm waiting for feedback on the Superdrive.
