paul, agreed, but for now what most people do is list multiple IMs in the "other work im" and "home im" fields, e.g. "jsmarr (y!), jsmarr[at]gmail.com (jabber)" or similar. We have code that can parse that free text pretty reliably, so in some cases we can link up the individual IM addresses listed. Besides cleaner UI, what benefit are you hoping for by explicitly separating out different IMs. Perhaps some sort of buddy-list builder, or at least the ability to click on an IM address to initiate a chat? Does gtalk provide URLs to do that? Any more thoughts here? Thanks, js
Here's my 2c: Allowing users to define IM-network-loginname pairs for each of their IM accounts. Plaxo could define an arbitrary (and growing) number of IM-networks. This could: 1) lower the barrier of entry (for login and adding a variety of new features to Plaxo) 2) create implicit (and allow for creation of explicit) clouds of friends pertaining to the same IM networks. Furthermore, Plaxo could: 3) apply URI schemes to generate desired@gmail.com">number ofURIs to forward messages/calls outside Plaxo 4) use IM APIs (where applicable) to generate various notifications (e.g. like @jaiku.com/shonzilla">Jaiku and @twitter.com/shonzilla">Twitter; not necessarily restricted to text) or automated pizza orders. ;-) I see a wonderful future for Plaxo, OpenSocial, and all of us.
Once again you are so far ahead of me. What I was getting at was being able to add other IM accounts and have them recognised as such by Plaxo. I didn't realise how smart your software is and that it does this already. I really should stop expecting the same levels of sophistication and foresight that I am accustomed to. You have exceeded my expectations just about every time.
There is one thing I don't think has been implemented yet and I would love to know if this will materialise. What is the chance of having Plaxo sync with Google Cal using multiple calendars? I have multiple calendars in Plaxo and want to syn them with equivalent calendars in Google Cal. The last time I looked at this it seemed Plaxo wanted to consolidate the calendars into a single calendar on Google.

I think, that is likely to happen with #opensocial hitting the web today.
p.s. FYI, there's the new #plaxo in town...

:-) Jaiku plays smart and filters out protocol part in URI whenever it differs from http. Anyway, you get my point.

Hi Joseph
